Chirac to Sarko: I'm not dead yet

So to speak. The President has attempted to lay down the law to his government, demanding 'a total mobilisation' within it and not to be distracted by the election. Furthermore, he wants his 'legacy' protected and Sarko the Gaullist candidate should build on it and not attempt to start with a clean slate.

Will Bush and Blair be calling for similar acts of engagement on the part of their would be successors, perchance?

"Aux armes, citoyens!
Formez vos bataillons!"

Maybe the Armée de Terre fancies a day trip to annex Wallonia.

I can't quite see why Chirac thinks he has the remotest chance of winning...unless, this is more about Jacques negotiating with Sarko (from a position of strength) about a deal on a presidential pardon once the old crook has actually left office...
