Stand by for further capital and employment flight from France

And Germany and Italy, come to that. Le Monde reports a survey on business attitudes to the business environment / corporate tax burden in sundry European countries. While a majority of British, Magyar, Swedish, and Dutch business types polled consider their business environments somewhat or very attractive (relatively speaking, no doubt) , 8% of the French and Italians questioned think the same, and just 3% of the Germans.

Elsewhere, 90% of French business types conside business taxes too complex, and while the French rate in ninth out of ten for tax etc, it rates tenth overall. I doubt that l'exception française will, on this basis, be long for this world.

When I was living in France, something like 200 French telephone engineers were offered, en masse, jobs in, I believe, California and they were all queued up at the US embassy applying for Green Cards when the embassy opened the next day.

Still, with our tax rates fast catching France we will be able to stand shoulder to shoulder in poverty with our glorious entente allies.
