How many chairs to a desk at the Ministry of Defence?
Not as one might think, one, but judging from Hansard figures on desk and chair procurement over the last five years, anything from 1.9 to 3.5.
The reference is specifically to office furniture so I suppose the figure includes chairs for presentations, meetings and other horrors, but I would prefer to imagine that they go in for partner desks or take hot desking way too seriously.

According to that reply, in 2003 they paid £80.01 per chair and in 2007 they paid £79.99 per chair.
They've only cut desk costs by 5p over the same time frame (£260.05 to £260).
Surely they should have been able to negotiate a trade discount over that time frame?

Nice piece of number crunching - cheers. You would think so, wouldn't you?

Yes but it's the costs of MoD Whitehall which are truly astounding.
