Run Jacques, run

M Chirac clearly has a sizeable family, or has been scattering largesse, as 19% of the French population want the old villain to run again.

Still, one can be heartened that there was no dithering, as the poll reported no 'don't knows'.

Of rather more moment is that the OECD wants answers from Blair over the dropping of the Serious Farce Office's investigation into the Saudi arms deal. Why did I have to read that on a French site? Anyway, the head of the OECD wants 'an explanation - and it had better be a good one' from Blair.

The 19% isn't necessarily comprised of his supporters is it? I imagine the socialists would be delighted if he stands again.

Even if Jacques did stand, and even if he got 19% (which I really doubt- who are these people?) what would be the point of his candidacy? Sarko and Sego would still go through to the second round and Chirac's supporters, would in all probability, switch to Sarko...

Other than "failing to give an explanation" what other ramifications might there be re OECD?

Chirac is marginally less popular with the Gaullists than the Socialists - 82% vs 79% not wanting him to stand.

PT - I shall dig....

"mieux vaudrait une bonne explication" - quel culot!

I can wait until they arrest him, not as good as Blair though

Run Jacques, run

He can run, but he cannot hide.
