The EU - internet users speak

Yet another ridiculous opinion poll, this time conducted among internet users in the UK, France, Spain, Germany and Italy by Le Monde, not on matters net related, but on the future of the EU. Erm, why not seek the opinions of dog owners on climate change, or of ballroom dancers on nuclear proliferation?

And herewith some of the figures:

60% have a positive image of the EU.
57% are in favour of a 'political Europe which would be a superpower'
74% do not think that the EU can do much about unemployment
55% of Britons (all 200 of them polled) are happy with the French having voted 'no' to the EU constitution.

This suggests that the Britons are somewhat smarter than other Europeans.

I think it is to our credit...

I've been stopped by these pollsters in the street and taken to a quiet place and bombarded with questions. These polls could prove that black is white. It all depends on the questions and the order they are put but then results are drawn out of context and shown to prove facts, which they don't. Even a good poll, with bald questions can only prove trends in that slice of humanity. And the questions are always 1-5 least likely to more likely and if, half way through, you get bored you say anything to get the free gift and get out the door!

Would you vote for Tony Bliar?
Definately, free gift? Ta.
(vote for him to be exiled to afghanistan with his wife and £10 in his pocket)

At least half the others wanted to be the ones that rejected it.

P - Yes, I'm somewhat suspicious of this poll. A mimnimum of a thousand are needed for any validity, and with the five 'big' countries of the EU only represented by 200 a piece, this is a tad unscientific.

Serf - Now there's a thought.
