Outwardly unlikely wars - a new candidate

I give you the 'Democratic People's Republic' of Korea and, erm, Denmark.

The rather entertainingly named 'From Fire and Ice', the North Atlantic Group's conference on security issues looked at just this prospect. Source. The good burghers of Copenhagen, Aalborg and Odense do not have a lot to worry about, but Greenland, and in particular, Thule, might be in the sights of Pyongyang, always supposing it can up the range of its missiles to circa 4000 miles.

Perhaps Kim Jong Il resents the fact of Thule having the tallest structure North of the Arctic Circle in the Radio Mast Thule, all 1,241 feet of it.

How about alphabetic pairings - like Burma v. Bulgaria? I think I have spoiled your post .... sorry...

Or alpha, and neigbours - Armenia / Azerbaijan (which we've had, sort of), Latvia / Lithuania or the grand slam of Zim/Zambia and Zaire.
