Croydonian's cure for insomnia

Assuming I don't bottle it, get bumped etc etc, I'm on 18 Doughty Street tonight, from 10-11. Apart from discussing the Oaten interview, I do not know what else will be on the agenda.

I'll be suited, shaved and sober, and look forward to all the mockery when I get back to sweet home Croydonia later on. I will be 'off air' from early evening as I'm attending this event in town too: 'Intimidation, Censorship and Islam: Holland’s experience - Britain’s warning?' hosted by the New Culture Forum. Details here.

I see you have been mentioned in Dispatches over at The Grauniad. http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/news/archives/2006/11/06/tony_blair_and_the_cashforhonours_inquiry.html

good luck with Doughty!

Blogger Croydonian said... 4:49 pm

Blimey, so I am:

"But some refuse to see what all the fuss is about judging from a comment on the Tory blog Croydonian. The alleged handing out of "badges for cash" is much less of a crime than taxpayers funding political parties, according to Newmania."

And cheers for the comment.

don't do it sober!!

This is your one chance to do an oliver reed
go on pissed , tell the world what a twat cameron is , make a pass at any female guests then thump iain dale.
It will probably end any chance you have of ever getting elected anywhere but you will earn my undying admiration (in a non gay way)

Blogger Croydonian said... 5:25 pm

I might have a sharpener, but don't want to get caught short, apart from anything else. I'm worried about how many layers of panstick I'll be caked with in order to hide my VDU-induced pallor.

No plans to thump ID. He's quite a big chap you know.

Blogger Croydonian said... 5:35 pm

And Iain's outed my surname too - no turning back. It is Luckman by the way.

Anonymous Anonymous said... 6:10 pm

You outed it yourself, you daft thing. It's on your emails. In fact, when you talked on your blog about not outing your surname, and then I saw Luckman on your email, I thought it must be a clever ruse.

Anonymous Anonymous said... 7:34 pm

Good luck C. And a big up props dude on the Guardian. Well deserved.

Anonymous Anonymous said... 10:35 pm

Just watching 18 Doherty Street now.

Think you're doing well. A bit reserved though. Not like you Sir!

Blogger Croydonian said... 12:11 am

V - yes, I know I was doing that. Seemed a bit silly to use the gmail address in personal correspondence.

DP - cheers.

Teri - me, reserved? Thought I got going after the international development thing.

Anonymous Anonymous said... 9:52 am

What a star, I look forward to reading your post.

I was invited to that same event too regarding Holland's experience, btw, how was it?

Anonymous Anonymous said... 10:34 am

Nice to see proper right wing views on 18DS - you grumpy man ;)

Blogger Croydonian said... 10:38 am

Grumpy? Iain thought I was laid back. Thanks anyway.

Blogger CityUnslicker said... 11:00 am

You were a good counter to the frothing loon sat next to you

Anonymous Anonymous said... 11:24 am

Hey I `m (second hand) famous where are the dancing girls !

Oh sweet nectar let me quench my thirst upon thee!!!

I mean . Oh yeah , so what.

Blogger Praguetory said... 11:25 am

Liked your views on the Olympics and ID cards. I like Kerron, but he came across as a bit of a toady.

Anonymous Anonymous said... 11:38 am

I am not in any position to comment cos I missed it. Taking a leaf from the 'Emperors new clothes' I should say you were... good. Still curious though......

Blogger Croydonian said... 12:19 pm

N - Way to go.

PT - If not hanging Saddam... Not sure if a more bruising encounter would have been more to KC's style. Thoroughly pleasant chap, by the way.

V - With any luck it will be archived. Then I'll have a mull about telling non-blogging friends, relatives etc.

Blogger Praguetory said... 1:15 pm

With friends you tend to overlook the stuff you don't agree with.

I think that he was maybe a little shocked to have to defend the Olympics. Also, the woman was very good, I thought.

Blogger Croydonian said... 1:19 pm

PT - all very true. It would be an odd world where we all agreed with each other all the time.

Yup, ID, was utterly blindsided by that, wasn't he?

Absolutely sterling work on the DD front, by the way.

Anonymous Anonymous said... 2:05 pm

There's dodgy posh and there's cool posh. There's dodgy curmudgeonry and there's cool curmudgeonry. William, you are a star. But those boots! And socks!

There's dodgy socks ........

I sincerely hope we'll be seeing a lot more of you on Doughty street. Great take on the olympics, and the middle east stuff was fascinating. Bravo.

Anonymous Anonymous said... 2:05 pm

For some reason, I couldn't see it. I watched the first half with the over-active, over-reactive, bouncey Mark Oaten, but then it blanked out. Will you let us know if we can access an archive?

Verity - I'm signing within my post as well as there is a malignant hacker trespassing on my computer and yesterday, he changed my signature in a post on this blog.

Blogger Croydonian said... 2:15 pm

DP - Thanks for that. I'm more than happy to do it again - it was a hoot.

V - Any post by anyone masquerading as you will be deleted as a matter of course. Apparently 18DS will be putting last night's stuff up as streaming media later today.

What has everyone got against yellow socks?

Anonymous Anonymous said... 2:43 pm

I liked the way you shocked Iain re the Olympics - he hadn't questioned it himself, but was swept away also by feelings of national pride. It will naturally cost millions more than predicted.

Anonymous Anonymous said... 3:30 pm

Croydonian - Let us know when it's streaming and how to access it.

The hacker is not signing my name. He changed my name on a previous post on this blog. I signed it Verity and when it appeared a few seconds later, it was signed with my previous Hotmail account password. He has sent me an email from my own Hotmail address, and I have closed that account, which is irritating, because I've had it for seven years. He has done various other things. Very malignant. And angry. But very clever.

I have reason to believe he's posting from England, or maybe Europe. But my detective work is pointing to England.

Anyway, that's why I'm signing within the post.

Verity

Anonymous Anonymous said... 11:06 pm

No word on when Iain's going to stream last night's Doughty St?

Anonymous Anonymous said... 5:41 pm

test.
