Bit of a jaw dropper from India
Just seen this in The Times of India:
"Guess how many soldiers are killed when [India] is not at war? Around 1,000 each year, which is the same average number of soldiers the US has lost in the Iraq war in the last three years".
Turns out that it is road accidents striking down the sons of India at a rate of 300 a year, 200 a year from operations in Kashmir, and 100 from suicides / fraggings. The rest seem to be accounted for by snake bites and so forth.
