What will NOT happen in 2010

Story borrowed from the Wall Street Journal, as is the map. I thought about knocking up my own map, but the map is all over the internet already.

Anyway, a Russian crystal ball gazer called Igor Panarin thinks that the US is going to split into six in 2010, as per the map below:

And how will these states align themselves?

"California will form the nucleus of what he calls "The Californian Republic," and will be part of China or under Chinese influence. Texas will be the heart of "The Texas Republic," a cluster of states that will go to Mexico or fall under Mexican influence. Washington, D.C., and New York will be part of an "Atlantic America" that may join the European Union. Canada will grab a group of Northern states Prof. Panarin calls "The Central North American Republic." Hawaii, he suggests, will be a protectorate of Japan or China, and Alaska will be subsumed into Russia".

Although all six hypotheses suggest that the professor has been taking crack, I think Alaska reverting to Moscow is the silliest suggestion. Mind you, having Ozarkers represented in Brussels is pretty mind-boggling.

Having Ozarkers represented in Brussels is, perhaps, no more mind boggling than what already goes on there.

I believe you might be thinking of the Appalachians, the Ozarks only extend into Missouri, plus parts of Arkansas,Kansas and Oklahoma.

TfB - Good point.

Fripper - I could attempt to wriggle out of it by pretending I was referring to Ozark county in Kentucky, but I won't, as you have me bang to rights.

Some of these "academics" are loopy over there but some refer to things which will happen de facto, while de jure, nothing happens at all.
