Horrible media stunts department

THE story at PRNewswire (requires a subscription, so no direct link - sorry) involves a stunt by M&M's, makers of the Smartie-like sweets:

Today M&M'S(R) unveils a 50-foot statue of Lady Liberty's Inner M as they call upon this famous American to be the first to liberate the fun inside her. The smiling statue kicks off a new campaign encouraging all Americans to find the M&M inside of them at BecomeAnMM.com! The 50-foot statue, which sails into NYC's harbor at 6:45 am, replaces Lady Liberty's stately posture, mild eyes and stoic expression with a smaller M&M'S(R) candy-shaped body, playful eyes and subtle smile. The statue will continue to sail the East and Hudson Rivers throughout the day inspiring busy commuters to liberate their fun side”.

Bartholdi's statue has suffered plenty of indignities in the past, and doubtless will brush this one off too. Meanwhile, "You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!"
