Some odds and ends
From Dutch daily NRC Handelsblad, slap down o' the day:
"Daniel Cohn-Bendit....Barroso, he says, is Europe's Frühstücksdirektor: someone you can trust with organising breakfast, but little more".
And, from the same place, the bed that our own dear Lib Dems have climbed into:
"Guy Verhofstadt, the former prime minister of Belgium and the new leader of the liberal group in the European parliament...Among other things, the liberals are demanding an ambitious European economic recovery plan, a powerful European supervisor for the banking sector, a commissioner for fundamental rights and anti-discrimination. And, Verhofstadt said, the European commission should stop relying so much on funding from the member states and start collecting its own revenue. In short: Verhofstadt is asking for a revolution".
Bet they keep quiet about that one, especially in the South West.
