Possibly the greatest parliamentary question of all time.

As God is my witness, I am *not* making this up.

Lord Taylor of Holbeach (1): To ask Her Majesty's Government what steps they will take to ensure that the results of the latest research into the use of diet to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from cattle are applied to beef and dairy cattle farming.

And the reply:

Lord Hunt of Kings Heath: The Government are considering this and other relevant research as they develop a cost-effective policy framework to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the agriculture, forestry and land management sector, in response to recommendations made in the Committee on Climate Change's inaugural report.

Fellow lapsed readers of Viz might wonder whether Johnny Greenhousegasemitterpants would have been quite such a punchy soubriquet.

(1) He is not that Lord Taylor, but a wholly upright and honourable Lord Taylor.
