I am indebted to The Frenchman for sending me this tale:

In a letter of congtratulation from Nicolas Sarkozy to Barack Obama, [he] hailed a 'brilliant victory' and 'an exceptional campaign'...The letter was word processed, but [he] took the trouble to add a note by hand 'Dear Barak'.

Whoops.
