Sensitive flowers, the Walloons

Saturday night saw bottom of the Belgian football league Tubize host Racing Genk. Racing Genk beat them 3-1, but the result is of no more than parochial interest.

What is notable, is that those naughty fans of RG were chanting rude things at Tubize, in their roles as representatives of Flanders in Wallonia:

"Et les Wallons, c'est du caca".

Yup, that was the offensive phrase. Surely all Belgians should be delighted by the billingualism of the Flemish people? However, the manager of Tubize went on to the pitch to ask the ref to stop the match. Not that he succeeded. A prolonged moan from the manager is available here.

Pretty mild stuff compared even to every week's 'you dirty cockney / Northern / Scouse / Geordie, ahem, so and so's' chanted by English supporters, and some way short of the venom in Rangers' 'Famine Song'.
