In the exciting Yale / Columbia 2008 Environmental Performance Index, newly released, sandwiched between Germany and Slovenia. We have an EPI score of 86.3, and an ecosystem vitality score of 73.2. Preumably the Yalies did not spend much time in and around Middlesborough (the night skyline of which was the inspiration for the cityscapes of 'Bladerunner'. True story).
Switzerland leads with an EPI of 95.5, with Norway and Sweden joint second at 93.1. Bear with me, as it is shortly about to get less predictable - Costa Rica is fifth and Colombia ninth. The bottom eight are all African states, with Niger last at 39.1.
