This chart from the OECD shows income tax plus employee and employer contributions as a percentage of labour cost. The rake peaks at about 55% in Belgium, and tops 50% in France, Germany and Hungary. Of those four, only France has seen the rake increase since 2000. Why bother getting out of bed?
