A little exercise in number crunching to mark International Women's Day
The UN, as it so fond of doing, has been doing some talking. While wading through the bromides, I noticed an awful lot of male delegates speaking on 'the persistent underrepresentation of women in political life and decision-making '. So here's the breakdown:
Male Speakers (16):
China
Croatia
Germany
Honduras
India
Jamaica
Kazakhstan
Korea
Malaysia
Nepal
Rwanda
San Marino
Senegal
Switzerland
Vietnam
Zambia
Female speakers (12):
Congo
Finland
Ghana
Guatemala
Iran
Israel
Kuwait
Morocco
Nicaragua
Spain
Turkey
Venezuela
Some people just have no sense of occasion....
Oh come on thats not to bad I bet you wrere hopingbthere would be no women at all weren`t you ?
The number of female MPs is falling despite all the supposed encouragement.
Its strange isn1t it C day after day you bring us exmaple of the hot air blowing around the globe .I reach a point wheere I wonder is anyone doing anything useful anywhere .

I'm going to take the Fifth.
The questions which ought to be asked before any showboating / grandstanding kicks in are how many women, ethnic minorities etc are actually have any desire to be involved in politics, the judiciary etc etc. I suppose we can then look forward to a pseudo-Marxist explanation that the lack of engagement is all due to patriarchy yadda yadda.
Hot air - plenty of it....

I'm more of a sideline bread roll thrower than a doer, so I suspect I would be of little use in guiding anyone to salvation.
