Blair comes up with another /really/ good idea - ask Syria and Iran to the Iraq 'party'

The same story is running in these parts, but I'm going to focus on the version in the Sydney Morning Herald, as it includes the mind bending phrase 'In his annual Guildhall speech on foreign affairs to be delivered last night'.

The Metternich of our time 'is calling for Syria and Iran to be engaged in efforts to stem violence in Iraq and to secure a broader Middle East peace settlement'.

Iran and Syria are not exactly neutral in matters Iraqi, and both have irridentist claims on Iraq. There can be little doubt that the Iranians are supplying weaponry and the like to the Shi'ites, and in the best Leninist tradition if they are faced with mush they will advance with cold hard steel. I don't suppose Tone has read this item at Memri which suggests that his Iranian friends were up to their eyeballs not just in connivance, but active engagement, with Al Qaeda.

Almost funny isnt it?
Funny in the kind of way that you grimace and sort of want to cry

Or bang nails into the floor with your forehead.....

He's clearly run out of ideas, why not ask a few other nations too?

Beggars belief really given that less than a month ago if you'd put it forward on here everyone would have luahged.

maybe north korea could lend a hand?
They do after all have some valuable population management skills.

Has he contacted Chavez and asked for Venezuela's help yet?

Blair is insane and dangerous. I'm not saying this to be funny. I seriously think he is a grave danger. I wonder if there's any way to remove a sitting prime minister.

Anonymous verity said... 9:34 pm

I wonder if Mr Bush new he was going to dart out and make this insane suggestion?

Blair is dangerous. Every single thing he has touched since getting into Downing Street has been utterly disastrous. Immigration, education, crime, our constitution, our bill of rights - everything built up through the centuries gone haywire and out of control.

A dreadful man indeed, but I still think we will look back on him with something approaching fondness if the Dour One ascends to the Lord Protectorate.

I have nothing to add but wish to yip like a cowardly hyena at the back after strong pack members have made the kill. He`s mad yip yip yip

Truth Ministry Announcement
No C the illusion that Blair is much right of Brown has been soap opera for the gullible (like me). There will be no fondness.

Not to be messed with hyenas - big scary looking beasts.

With Broon, it is more the air of Presbytarian rectitude that will hang over the nation like a big black cloud. Tone might be ghastly, but he has been known to smile. I get the impression that Broon only manages it owing to having tape hauling up the corners of his mouth. As I once said of someone, 'she smiled once, but she'd been on uppers for a week'.

Mr Bush new
oops the old bag slipped up
"Verity" I think you meant "knew"

Anonymous verity said... 11:22 pm

To the identity thief "Peter Hitchens", I did indeed leave the k off the word knew. You are correct.

Croydonian seems to have allowed, inch by inch, you to colonise this blog with crude language and personal abuse. It's not such a pleasant place to visit any more.

PH. Enough. I've deleted your last post.

George Bush/Tony's disastrous impact will live on well past their terms in office: the ultimate result of the Iraq debacle is an authoritarian Iraq leaning toward Axis of Evil member Iran.
