More from The Gipper
Since I'm in a Reaganish mood, another treasure I've dug out of the archive is "Grinning with the Gipper: A Celebration of the wit, wisdom and wisecracks of Ronald Reagan". Here's a good one:
"I've always thought that the common sense and wisdom of government were summed up in a sign they used to have hanging on that gigantic Hoover Dam. It said 'Government property. Do not remove."
Maybe I'll post some more, but meanwhile note how *every* Republican president in living memory has been depicted as either a moron or a crook by the BBC.

A reporter asked Mr Reagan, in his very early days as President, "Sir, Do you know your plans yet for dealing with the Soviet Union?"
And Reagan said, "Yes. We're going to win and they're going to lose."

Now that was the spirit, eh?
"How do tell a Communist? Well, its someone who reads Marx & Lenin. How do you tell an Anti-Communist? Its someone who undestands Marx & Lenin"

Just found another of his quotes which you might enjoy:
"The nine most terrifying words in the English language are: 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help.'"
