Crumbs from the table

Having finally stopped laughing about the humiliation of Broon's homunculus last night, back to blogging:

Didn't expect Denmark, but France was all too easy.

And the Hibernians don't have their trotters in the trough either. For what it is worth, this is a comparably small project and in most cases the EU is matching or adding to national funds. Still, it illustrates a point. In many ways the 600000 or so going to Luxembourg for milk promotion is the most outrageous, given its wealth and population.

If you start with the UK in the light blue at the top, and move clockwise, you'll see that Italy is the 2nd largest recipient in the dark blue at the bottom right, not Denmark.

Indeed, the Dutch, Italians, Greeks and Gauls take about two-thirds of spend between them.

Qantas ('Queers and nancies together as stewards', as the old joke goes) dropped from A to B owing to that incident.
