Good news.

Fewer MEPs. Well, fewer from Italy, France and the UK at least, if presumably not fewer overall.

" The EP's constitutional affairs committee on Tuesday approved the plan to allocate seats according to the resident population of each EU member. The calculation would include immigrants.... Under the proposed changes Italy would lose six of its 78 MEPs. Britain and France, which have larger immigrant populations than Italy, would lose five and four respectively.

The draft re-allocation, which is to go to the European Parliament for debate and a vote on October 11, would mean that for the first time Italy would weigh less in the EP than France and Germany".

The Italians, unsurprisingly, do not like this at all.

Since I cannot name the prime candidates for seat losses in Italy, here are my British P45 candidates:

Jean Lambert - Green, London

Bairbre de Brun - United Left / Nordic Green Left. She's a shinner

Ashley Mote - Identity, Tradition & Sovereignty group, South East.

Claude Moraes
- Socialist, London (There may well be worse Socialists, but I have always found him irritating).

I think one can deem Kilroy Silk as essentially harmless. Suggestions from those with further insights are welcome, but meanwhile Luxembourg has *6* MEPS for its population of 480,222, including the unfortunately surnamed Herr Goebbels. He is also a Socialist. London has nine MEPs for its population of 7.5m. Contrast Slovenia, population 2m ish, which has seven MPs.

No more picking on Luxembourg today, I promise.

Nordic Green Left? WTF?

None of those would be a great loss to the UK. In fact we would benefit enormously. As for Caroline Lucas, the bint, if she is so concerned about carbon emissions why doesn't she just stop breathing and do us all a favour?

Nordic Green Left - a ragbag of Commies, Trots, Greens and other ne'er do wells.

Actually Germany already outweighs Italy by 99 to 78 thanks to the fall of the iron curtain, although before then France, Britain Germany and Italy were all the same size.

MH - Yes, good point. I should have noticed that, but did not.
