Borrow money from Andrew Rawnsley - he's not very good with figures
At least judging from an article of his in The Observer:
"Nearly half of the EU's members have fewer people than Scotland's five million".
Hmm, I thought. There are around 5.1 million Caledonians. So, what would count as "nearly half" of 27 ? Thirteen, or being generous, twelve? Nope, in Mundo Rawnsley it is eight - Cyprus, Estonia, Republic of Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta and Slovenia. Details here.
Lend me a couple of grand General Urko, I'll pay you back "nearly half" next week

My old maths teacher would have put me in detention if I had tried to pass off 'less than a third' as 'nearly half'.
I wonder if the brain activity that occurs when people decide to become a socialist has a consequent side effect of inhibiting the intraparietal sulcus?

Rawnsley is hopeless. Public school mediocrity who was a very dim bulb alongside the sparkling Vincent Hanna.
Rawnsley is so dull and mediocre, a product of the BBC/Guardian mould and simply a partisan hack for NuLabour with no insight or flair. He just does not know what he is saying
