Swedish car insurance - this post is less dull than one might think
Because it involves premium changes for a person of the surname of Bladh, who found that car insurance for an Audi A6 was £87 steeper when applied for as a woman rather than a man, the person concerned being a post-op transsexual at the time of renewal.
Showing little interest in matters actuarial, Bladh commented 'I think it's disgusting. It's clearly discrimination. There's no logic to it'. The hapless insurer has attempted to explain how insurance works, but Bladh is taking it to an ombudsman.

Fucking hell
not only does he lose "mr happy" but his car insurance goes up , he must have done some bad shit in a previous life
That is funny C. In fact motor is placed on super thin margins and fine differentials in the rating are offered because of the fierce competition,. As ever all the discounts are taken as read and the premium is resented until the claim.
Its a funny quirk but really its a ferociously competitive markets getting the Premiums down to the pips.
We are not appreciated.
Solemn
Finger wag
Saddened
diddums N. However, if that describes the UK market; is it equally as competitive in Sweden?
Mr mania I go out for lunch & come back to find you are still sad
get a grip!
keep that photo on your desk
There's no such thing as a transsexual. The guy's a male who's had himself sculpted and is taking strong hormones.
But his DNA is male.
Verity, did you know that there are men out there with two Y chomosomes? I find that scary.
Actually, I am wrong. They have an xyy chromosome combination. Still scary.
Lilith - I did take physiology in school, but don't remember the chromosome code. Am I right that XX is female and XY is male?
What would be the significance of YY? Or XYY?
XYY looks to be linked with added height, aggression and 'learning difficulties'. Maybe we should call it testosterone poisonining. More here.
Apparently the preferred, by a wide margin, post-op name is 'Amanda'. Not many Morags or Gretchens that I'm aware of .
yeah, that's right. You've got a huge agressive hairy bloke who terrifies his own mother.
