V good! I saw a private car the other day with a sticker that said "How's my driving?" and giving out his phone number. A cute way to meet girls, methinks.
I have already alerted your immediate superiors C and you may expect to have severe disciplinary action raining down upon you the very second you get back to the depot . My worst scheme to meet girls was to do a cookery class. I met several homosexual men and the rest of them did not speak English and were , I think , about to confined to the house in view of the conservative religions they came from. English women in London pretty much use the stove to keep their shoes in and that’s fine by me.
Oddly enough it was great fun , the gay guys were funny and I like cooking.
The poetry course was a disaster . I like poetry at times but I was unprepared for wall to wall Rachel`s if not even drippier. The teacher himself was a superb writer though who I was saddened to see died very young and only recently ( 2004 ) aged 50.
The below is typical of his work which is elegant and does not hide in obscurity . You have to know what a Claude Glass is which I am sure C does. American Poetry is what I think of when I complain at the insipidity of our old ladies armpit of a country . Robert Lowe , William Carlos Williams , TS Elliot ( yes I am aware if his final nationality )…of course. American writing is ludicrously undervalued in this country and it is foolish to imagine there is not a political agenda involved…I blame the Pinter Rushdie Charter 88 (….ugh) wet self lovers, as much as anyone, for the reanimation of the socialist cadaver . Unfortunately Harold Pinter is quite good . Rushdie you could have left in the open with a target painted on him as far as I `m concerned.
On a Claude Glass
A lady might pretend to fix her face,
but scan the room inside her compact mirror -
so gentlemen would scrutinize this glass
to gaze on Windermere or Rydal Water
and pick their way along the clifftop tracks
intent upon the romance in the box,
keeping untamed nature at their backs,
and some would come to grief upon the rocks.
Don't look so smug. Don't think you're any safer
as you blunder forward through your years
straining to recall some aching pleasure,
or blinded by some private scrim of tears.
I know. My world's encircled by this prop,
though all my life I've tried to force it shut.

I have pondered on doing am dram for less than honest reasons in the past, but have resisted the temptation.
Vis a vis poetry, as some wag once pointed out, there are far more people who wish to inflict bad verse on humanity than there are willing victims. Showing my characteristic sensitivity, I have been know to declaim the oeuvre of John Cooper Clarke (qv) at blameless young ladies.

AmDram is the best place to meet women , unlike cookery classes (mania you berk (+:)you are guaranteed to meet some good looking ones , unfortunatley they tend to be loons , I speak from experience.
Not that I have ever crept the boards , just been out with a few amatuer thesps
Quite the dippiest (in the face of strong competition) woman I have ever been involved with was a thesp.
