Tessa Jowell and those England flags
Jowell has exceeded even the 'I'd jump under a bus for Tony' comment for sheer toe-curling awfulness by bedecking her car with the flag. Honestly, can anyone believe there is even a micron of sincerity in that act? At least Coriolanus abased himself in the pursuit of office, so to speak, whereas Jowell has no excuse for chavving up. Ick....

I think it is impossible to find a flag free zone anywhere at the moment, but I bet here in the UK we are much more understated about it than other countries who are wild about football. I remember being in Dublin during the last world cup and the Irish flag was flying across the streets in shopping centres and public buildings.
I heard the flag was being flown form No 10 too, as well as DC's bike.

Ellee, I'm reasonbaly patriotic myself, and still derive pleasure from the resurrection of the Cross of St George back in '96, but object to the transparent opportunism and insincerity of TJ wrapping herself in it.
