Putting one's head back in the noose
Our Greenlandic friends had the foresight to leave the EC (as was) in 1985, but some folk just cannot see a motorway without wanting to play chicken:
"Kristian Jeremiassen, minister for Atassut, posed a §36 paragraph about what its stance on a possible application for membership in the EU is".
(I have not a clue what a §36 paragraph is).
Atassut is another contender for the oddest name for a political party, as it means 'Feeling of Community'. It is allied with the Danish liberals, who do not seem to be a bad lot.

At the risk of the odium following from a non-ridiculous comment - if our man is minister for assatut, surely that would suggest that assatut is his position rather than political party?

Atassut
whatever...

PNW - A reasonable enough observation and your comments can be as sensible as you wish.
Anyway, Atassut is a party, honest. I think the translation from the Danish must have gone awry.

Assatut is actually the small hamlet about 7 leagues to the north of Nether Wallop. There is a pet shop in the main market square.

The real beauty of Lower Wallop is that to get there one must pass through Upper Wallop and Middle Wallop - both equally delightful. As a bonus, once one has reached Lower Wallop one often finds oneself quickly returned to Upper Wallop and the journey must be completed again...
