Apparently those people need advice about what to do when it is cold, and it features these pearls from Health Commissar Flint: "Eat a healthy balanced diet - take advantage of the winter as an excuse to eat lovely hot stews [no 'and' or ',' in the original] plenty of hot drinks. Keep your hat on and layer up - did you know that several thin layers of clothing keep you much warmer than one thick layer?"
And there was I dusting off the bermudas but also wondering how many more caesar salads I could manage before boredom set in.

I'd of thought constructive help being offered such as increases in basic state pensions to an appropriate level so the elderly can afford to heat their homes during the winter months
I know they get a winter payment for fuel but don’t go far enough in giving the elderly peace of mind to live comfortably in their homes without the fear of escalating costs or causing debt due to increased fuel and council tax bills.

This seems as good a place as any to mention that the Tories continue to enjoy the sport of shooting themselves in the foot. This will have lost them at least 100,000 votes, I would imagine. Tim Yeo has said - wait for this, boys and girls, that all domestic flights in Britain should be banned. Global warming, you see.
