Fear and Loathing in Scandinavia
Strange things are afoot on the other side of the North Sea, with a politically motivated cake thrower in Norway facing the prospect of a 15 year jail sentence (one could probably be a rampaging serial killer and get change from 15 years in these parts) for lobbing a cream cake at the country's finance minister. The cake flinger had issues about coalition horse trading: "I view the position of Finance Minister as one of, if not the, most important positions in the government. Therefore I believed it was wrong that a party with such a poor election showing should get such a significant position". (Source) Should the Yellow Peril gets its heart's desire and form a coalition with Labour, I look forward to Ming Campbell and his acolytes having extensive dry cleaning bills.
If that was not enough by way of existential crises for Nordic types, 'One in three of Swedish office workers finds it hard or impossible to describe what they do for a living'. (Source). I wonder if this might give Ingmar Bergman an idea for a film.
However, all is not doom and gloom, as Stockholm is going to be supporting builders union Byggnads (see, I'm not making this up) in a European Court action against a Latvian company.
