Clare Short waltzes off in a huff
As all will be by now well aware.
The question is will anyone notice? She has voted in 57% of divisions and spoken in 7 debates this year (source).
Meanwhile, a quick sniff around the Labour party website shows she has *already* been airbrushed out of history, in the best Stalinist tradition. No mention on the news pages, natch.

for someone so repulsive she could have tried to be more pleasant.
CS- a nasty piece of work. A ditherer and an opportunist. Labour will be well rid of her.....
Mentioned at 16:45 on BBC 24. Personally I like independents, as being on message is boring. That includes George Galloway. Can anyone tell me what's interesting about David Cameron? Peut-etre I just can't see it!
Amities de Sutton
she used to live with a black who was convicted of murder.
lets hope she does the decent thing and dies very soon.
Interesting typo Suttonian mon brave.
CS is the step mother of a woman I was at university with. Thrilling eh?
There is something to be said for independent, or even independent minded MPs, but the former have tended to be single issue figures - the Kidderminster hospital chap, Martin Bell etc. However, up until 1950 the universities used to return MPs, and Oxford U was blessed with a truly splendid MP in A.P Herbert (qv)
I may well return to the topic of university MPs, as it is worthy of exploration.
Currently 80 refs on Ggl.uk.
Irrelevantly, I'm rather disappointed with the FT. S&P have just downgraded Italy. According to the FT, la Une & inside, its total budget is £23bn. That'll just about pay for the Educazione. In reality, it's more like £4-500 bn. Woulda thought somebody at the FT woulda known that 23 bill won't get you much in 2006.
Ciao
Suttoniano - quite the polylinguist, eh?
Back in early 80s, it was estimated that if all taxes levied by the Italian state were collected, it would have amounted to 110% of GNP, and that there were 43 different taxes on a cup of coffee bought in a bar. Still, I am much taken with Italy and the Italians - especially Neapolitans - a splendid group of people.
Actually, when I got up this morning and was having my first cup of tea, I misread the headline as 'Clare Short Waltzes off in The Buff'.
I perked up, thinking it promised to be an interesting day.
I'll add that to the list of things I don't want to see, along with sausages and politicians being made.
Cue comment from Peter Hitchens about a summer job he had making sausages in Grimethorpe.
D&B, your link did not work, alas, but here it is on your site. Meanwhile, thank you for adding some useful detail to the discussion.
