Misleading headline o' the day

"Smith attacked over 42-day speech". Source

I'm not surprised, frankly. People attending probably had other things planned, and even Castro only rants for about 3-4 hours at a go.

Even Nero would have struggled to keep his captive audiences fixated for that length of time. Is Jacks the worst of a very bad bunch of Labour Home Secs?

Must say 42 seconds of a Jacqui 'Pericles' Smith speech would probably rob me of the will to live.

No, no. It just feels like forty-two days every time she speaks.

@ BE. Given that the NuLab Home Secs are changed roughly about as often as my nether garments we'll probably see another few before a General Election. So there's plenty of time yet for competitors for that title to surface.

it's an interrogation technique

has been scientifically proven that no human can withstand the Jacqui drone for more than 40 days

hence the detention period

but 28 days is OK: they will simply turn her up to whine setting and increase the thickness of the walls of the cell
