Lest anyone is entertaining the possibility of this being a Croydon dialect word, it is not:

Apparently students are no longer to be taught 'i before e except after c'.

There are of course a lot of exceptions.

I have also just used 'apparently' as a verb.

Which it is not.

Ciel is an exception.

But is French.

Does that count?

All very troubling...

Seen at Crosshouse Hospital (Ayrshire, Scotland), the other day:

"Ambulance's only"

(On a parking space)

A fine example of the Greengrocer's apostrophe.
