Professor M.L. Gupta of Punjab Engineering College, quoted at the Commonwealth Secretariat site:

"Most people are poor because they do not have money".

I bet his lectures and tutorials are popular.

I have a large collection of obvious lurking in a cupboard, and I am hoping the professor will come round and point it out for me.

He'd be blackballed from 'Comment is Free', where the received wisdom is that 'people are poor because everyone else has their money'...

Too true. CiFers do seem to want to divide up the cake before the ingredients have even been assembled and a flat surface cleared.
