Pope Benedict XVI vs the Ummah

Updated 16/9/6

Cranmer has covered this in his usual masterful way and it would be redundant of me to attempt to duplicate his efforts. Expect a spirited but intellectually heavyweight debate over the next few days.

Meanwhile, sticking with all things Islamic, the Telegraph has a rather sweet tale of a Muslim girl from Plaistow who ran off to India to marry a Hindu boy she met on the internet. So far, so very run of the mill. Her father's reaction is quite telling:

"She is a Muslim above all and she has married a Hindu and that is the most shocking thing about this — not that she has lied to us and married against our wishes...But we could do nothing to protect our daughter from the evil of the internet. While we slept at night, this evil came into our home and has led to our daughter marrying a Hindu boy".

Looks like he needs some cultural sensitivity training....

Look for the Pope Rage to build up. Motoon Rage started slowly, too.

Next Friday's prayers, the traditional flashpoint for spiritually-included muslims, should get the show on the road. Look for a "spontaneous" surge of fury at several venues around Europe. Bari (which is barf with a typo) will be geeing up the young British muslims, if there are any still left outside prison by then. Well, you can always get the ambulatory black curtains out of the house with pushchairs carrying the devil's spawn wearing cute little hats that save I Love Osmana.

Update on Pope Rage: It's beginning! Now they've burned an effigy of the Pope in Srinigar. I guess they just popped down to the Pope shop and bought the effigy, thoughtfully choosing among many.

Anyway, the "British" muslims weren't slow to get in on the act. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/worldnews.html?in_article_id=405238&in_page_id=1811&ico=Homepage&icl=TabModule&icc=NEWS&ct=5

(If that doesn't work, just go to the Daily Mail.)

Are these people missing a gene or something?

Doubtless, the hallowed ground of Croydon- a pearl of Christendom- will also fall to the Mohammedan hoardes.....

I though that the followers of mohammed (I spit upon him) were forbidden from making images of anything created by god, popes included.

Oh well, if the Muslims burn only effigies, that puts them in a better light than some popes I can think of.

Peter Hitchens - NO! No! No! The passive tense, if you please! Not "I spit upon him" but "Piss be upon him". It's tidier in their minds.

I do wonder when we kaffirs get to riot about the rather unpleasant things said about us in the Koran.

The Pope has apologized to the Ummah if they found found his speech on Islam offensive, expressing his respect for their faith and hoping they would understand the "true sense" of his words.
The enraged Mohammedan hoardes will now press for B.16 to apologize personally and not through Vatican sources, to all Muslims for his misinterpretations of the religion of peace. If he does, he’s a fool... His next scheduled public appearance is his Sunday Angelus blessing, when he often comments on current affairs. It will be interesting to see how B.16 proceeds.
